Home Window Tinting Myths & Facts

There are many misconceptions that surround window tinting that range from skepticism about its benefits to conflict about its aesthetic appeal. In fact, when many people think of tinted windows, the image that comes to mind may be flashy cars with dark, opaque windows-not something you would want in your home.
Window tinting is more beneficial than you might have imagined, which some do not realize due to some myths that are commonly believed. Here are some of the most common misconceptions about window tinting:
Myth 1: Tinted windows are too dark. This is not true. Getting your windows tinted does not mean that your rooms will be dark and gloomy and that you will never be able to enjoy the sunlight. Some films are designed to be almost unnoticeable so that your windows remain transparent, giving you the option of varying the brightness of your rooms with curtains or blinds.
Myth 2: Tinted windows are bad for plants. Too much of anything can be detrimental, and your plants can actually dry out from overexposure to too much sun. Having your windows tinted can keep your indoor plants healthy and hydrated by protecting them from excess heat and sunlight.
Myth 3: Tinted windows prevent you from enjoying outdoor scenery. Contrary to popular belief, not all window films are reflective. There are films that are not reflective at all on either side, and others that make your windows opaque from the outside and transparent from the inside. Having your windows tinted does not mean that you will no longer be able to enjoy the view.
Myth 4: Tinted windows make your home look unappealing. There is a wide variety of window films to choose from and you can easily pick a shade that compliments your windows. There are also films that are virtually invisible, and you can always opt for one of these, if you prefer.
Myth 5: Tinted windows are too expensive. Getting your windows tinted is actually very affordable. The cost is comparable to getting any window treatment and comes with the additional advantage of making your home more energy efficient. Window films reduce the cost of cooling by blocking out the glare of the sun and they also reduce the cost of heating by insulating your home and preventing heat from escaping. In most cases, window tinting actually pays for itself in energy savings within a few years.
Professionally installed, high-quality window tinting can make your home more comfortable and help you save on your power bill. The benefits provided outweigh those offered by other window treatment options. The fact is, there are really no disadvantages to having your windows tinted.

We tell people the same thing all the time. I think more people are starting to see the benefits of window tinting and finding that it is not what they thought it was at all. Power companies are starting to make a push for more energy efficiency and are starting to offer rebates to have your windows tinted. Here is another blog telling the same thing your blog is about. 10 myths about window tinting!
